Cost to install drywall, tape and mud seams?
I’m finishing my basement and my father in law had a guy come over to give us an estimate to install drywall and also to tape and mud the seams. The estimate was for $10 per sheet of drywall and then $10 per sheet to mud and tape the seems, so $20 a sheet to do everything. Is that a good deal? I live in the Chicago suburbs.
yes this is a good deal, which is kinda worrysome…I would charge along lines of $1.75-$2.00 square foot(materials included), comes along lines of $56.00 a sheet. Make sure this guy is real, and not a con, most of my work is coming in after incompetent contractors. you pay for material or him? I suggest you get the material and do not pay him until the job is complete to your satisfaction. Warning: you get what you pay for.
oh yeh use least 3 coats mud, make sure he securely fastens the drywall using screws NOT NAILS! screws must be spaced about 9″ apart in field and 6″ on butt joints.
