Why Have a Garden Room
If you’ve been thinking around the idea of having a garden room built at your place but are wondering just how many uses you will have for it, if any, then wonder no more. This is because I have gone through and dug up some of the “most common” popular uses for garden rooms from folks who actually own them for you to check out.
One of the most popular uses for them by parents with children and most particularly older kids and teens, was as a place to get them, and their friends out of the home, “yet within reach”. It’s somewhere where they can listen to their music, play video games, or “whatever”, and still have peace reign in the main home.
Garden rooms are also the perfect get away for adults too it turns out. For instance, a lot of married men like to equip theirs with a refrigerator, card table, dart board and couple of comfortable couches for a place to hang with their mates on Friday, and Saturday nights. It’s a heck of a lot cheaper, and closer than the local pub.
A garden room is also the perfect venue for taking a home business idea and turning it “into reality” as so many others have already done. It’s isolated from the main home which allows for great concentration and focus and it’s also secure so there are no worries about kids or anyone else messing around, or getting into anything.
Along a similar line, garden rooms are a great place to get away and tinker with ideas or concepts that you’re trying to work up into a viable business concept, or product. Now of course you can work in your garage but you just can’t achieve the same level of creative clarity there that you can in a nice “open” garden room.
Garden rooms also make a great guest house for weekend visitors. A friend who has enjoyed your drinks a bit too much and really shouldn’t be driving for example. A fold down couch that converts into a bed is great for serving double duty as a sitting area during the week, and then a bed at night if needed.
Still along that same type of line, having a room separate from the main house is in many homes the best option for a son, or a daughter who has decided to stick around home and take college courses locally after high school. It allows them higher level of independence they should have as young adults, yet in a way that isn’t disruptive to the main home.
These separate quarters for a lot of folks have also turned out to be the place where they “discovered, or rediscovered” artistic talents. They had the room built with absolutely no thought if ever using it as an art studio and by the time it was all through that’s exactly what it became. There are those who had only dabbled in art at the most, yet sell their works in galleries.
