Leveling Basement Floor
how do you level an uneven basement floor (concrete)?
It slopes about 4 inches from one side to the other
you cannot use levelling concrete, epoxy. or any of the feathering latexes, as it would be extremely costly or too thick in some areas. So, you are left with concrete. you can pour the whole floor with a “pea gravel” mix. You will need someone with experience to help you do the levelling. It can be screeded to a pretty level finish. If it needs to be perfect, which I doubt, then you can finish up with some of the latex patching materials. Again, epoxy is way too expensive, and it is too thick in most areas to justify latex patches.
PS, the concrete could be brought in by a chute at the basement windows…
I did the exact thing in a college rental house…..worked fine.
You will lose about 1 1/2″ at the highest point, so hopefully you still have enough headroom. Otherwise, a wood floor may work, but is labor intensive.
Or, you could find the point that is 1 1/2 to 2″ lower than the highest point, place a form at this line, and pour the concrete mix on the lower side, to this point, then use sand mix cement and latex to level from there to the highest point.
