Plumbing Leaks
Pls help. Plumbing leaked! Is my wooden floor a history?
Hi, I and my husband are currently travelling and my friend visited our house since she needed to pick up our mail and she discovered to our shock that one of the recently repaired tap leaked and the whole house was full of water. she has tried to drain the water out.
Can anyone tell me what can be done. Is the wooden floor gone and will need to be changed entrirely? Or can i do something to repair it? Pls help ASAP!
I agree with crazyem, but would add a couple things:
- Use some fans to dry it out as much as possible (after using towels etc. to soak water up)
- Mold/mildew can be an issue. Use bleach water to clean it if it is
- If the floor buckles up, you can sand down the connecting pieces, get it lying flat, then use finishing nails to tack it down again (will have to set the nails in further than the surface of the floor to use sander to refinish it because otherwise sandpaper will catch on nails, rip, damage sander, etc.)
- Easiest place I’ve found to rent a sander is Menard’s – just fill out the form, no deposit, and they charge by the day
