Rec Room Decorating Ideas
We need an INDOOR site for our small October wedding (20 guests) in the Dallas area. Suggestions?
We were getting married here in Colorado, but my fiance has to move to Dallas for a new job in 2 weeks. October is too early in his job to ask for a week off to come back for our wedding, so Dallas it is. We want to use our own decor — swags, butterflies, jewel strands, etc. — cuz we already bought it. I’d love an historic chapel or an old-world style room in an inn, then have a restaurant reception. Everyplace I’ve checked either won’t let us decorate and/or insists we use their caterers. I’d accept the catering, but they all require at least 50 people. For instance, I adore one of the rooms on Capella Court’s website, but they won’t cook for fewer than 50 people. We don’t KNOW that many people! Grrr! Other folks have small weddings. I’m sure they don’t all resort to boxy, flourescent-lit rec centers. It can’t be outdoors because candles are an important part of our ceremony. Besides, I’m the bride and I just WANT an indoor wedding. Hmmph! So, anybody have an idea for our location?
You could try The Carpenter House in Plano, TX. The website is below. It’s an old Victorian home. I’m not sure about the decorating; you’d probably be limited on how you can put things up (attaching to walls and stuff). I believe you have to use their catering, but they have various packages, and the smallest one is for up to 25 people. Another option is the Corner Wedding Chapel in North Richland Hills. They allow outside caterers, would work with just 20 people, and have both indoor and outdoor facilities. Their website is also below. You could also check out The Corinthian Bed and Breakfast, which is in Dallas. It’s an old (1905) house, and could work with your guest list. Again, I’m pretty sure you’d be kind of limited on decorating, but you’d have to contact them. Another place is called Maple Manor in Dallas.
