Electric wires and cables are used for every establishment. Be it an office, house, or any kind of building. Electrical wiring refers to insulated conductors that are used to carry electricity, and associated devices. It is sued to provide power in buildings and structures that is commonly referred to as building wiring. Electric wire is made up of usually copper, and sometimes, aluminum or silver too.
The early telegraph systems used the first forms of electrical cabling, transmitting that used small amounts of power. While choosing electric wires and cables, you must give priority to the quality. A cheap quality wire may create safety hazards. It may also lead to a fire breakout if the copper or the cover is of very low quality. It can also cause short circuit.
It is advisable buildings and office structures follow a wiring safety code to protect people and buildings from electrical shock and fire hazards. The regulations may be established by city, county, provincial / state or national legislation. Keeping in line with the procedure will help ensure safety. The most common materials for wiring interior electrical systems in buildings vary depending on:
Intended use and amount of power demand on the circuit
Type of occupancy and size of the building
National and local regulations
Environment in which the wiring must operate
Generally, the wiring systems in a single family home or duplex are simple, with relatively low power requirements, infrequent changes to the building structure and layout, usually with dry, moderate temperature, and non-corrosive environmental conditions. However, when it comes to light commercial environment, it may require frequent wiring changes. Large apparatus may be installed and special conditions of heat or moisture may also apply. Heavy industries may require more severe wiring arrangements such as large currents and higher voltages, frequent changes of equipment layout, corrosive, or wet or explosive atmospheres.
Utmost care must be exercised while selecting the electric wires and cable considering the amount of damage that it can cause to buildings. A powerful cable is a combination of two or more electrical conductors, that are usually held together with an overall sheath. The assembly is used for transmission of electrical power. The power cables can also be installed as permanent wiring within buildings, buried in the ground, run overhead, or exposed. Flexible power cables are used for portable devices, mobile tools and machinery. The modern power cables are available in a variety of sizes, materials, and types. Large single insulated conductors are also known as power cables.
