Need Dry Basement solutions for the do-it-yourself-er.?
My husband and I are fixing up a house that has a wet basement. We have seen products (like the ones from Basement Systems) like the WaterGuard under floor piping system and the CleanSpace Wall System, which is a reinforced plastic liner to stop water vapor from permeating the walls. Is there a way to buy similar products ourselves and install?
Perhaps your first move should be to find out Why your basement is wet. Maybe a few changes in the landscaping like sloping the soil down and away from the house to direct water away would help the problem. It may not take much. Check all your downspouts and make sure all the rainwater is channeling away from the house instead of pooling and leaching into the basement.
